Xbox Live Days of Christmas: Day 21

Up for sale are Hole in the wall, and Leedmees.

Both of these games are meant for Kinect, and are currently 50% off.

Minecraft on Xbox 360: What you should know.

Some of the rumors surrounding the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft are absolutely absurd.

"Minecraft on Xbox 360 will only be playable with the Kinect sensor."

I'm not even aware as to how this rumor came to be. Let's get the fact straight; You CAN use a controller if you so choose to.

"The Xbox 360 version will be lacking most of the updates that have been made for the PC version."

Wrong, while it is known to be lacking the hunger bar in several previews; this does not confirm that the game itself will lack most of the updates. The preview is just that.

"The game itself will be released in spring 2012."

Entirely possible, but the trailer description itself says otherwise. "Here's a little teaser for the Minecraft for Xbox 360 release later this winter."

Xbox Live 12 Days of Christmas: Bastion

Hallo there, would you happen to be interested in a game called Bastion?

What's that? You are intrigued, but aren't to the point in which you would hack up fifteen dollars? (Eleven euro)

You can now buy it at half the original price on Xbox live. (600msp)

Plant vs Zombies on PS Vita

I wasn't surprised at this announcement.

Features of the game have not been unveiled.

The game will most likely be a port, but it should offer some new option for people who already own the game a previous platform.

(PS Vita version probably won't... )

Ah well! Move along now.

Nyan Cat Adventure The Game (Xbox Live Indie Game)

21st Street Games has launched something that might be of interest to you.

Apparently, it involves the internet sensation nyan cat.

Judging from this video; it appears to be colorful, and the 8-bit graphics fit it well.

As per gameplay; it only involves one button. This may be viewed as simplistic, but the level designs offer a challenge that you wouldn't expect.

There isn't much else I can say about this; if you're an meme fanatic like myself; then go to the indie section of Xbox live, and download it.

Otherwise, you may be confused as to what is taking place on your screen.

Seaman for Kinect!

For those of you who don't know; Seaman is a game that was originally launched for the Dreamcast.

What was the objective of this game? Talking to a fish-man hybrid, and unlocking his secrets.

The player had the ability to interact with the wisened creature via a microphone.

In the process; you would help the creature gain knowledge, and thus grow.

This game would make a perfect fit with the Kinect Sensor.

So, why hasn't this been updated, and ported to Xbox Live Arcade with Kinect support?

I suppose everyone is busy making a sequel to Fighters Uncaged.

*Shudder*

CastleMiner Z Update 1.2 Dragon details released!

Quote from the developer:

"We are finally done with the dragons and we have some details.

There are 5 dragons

Fire

Forest

Sand

Ice

Undead

The dragons will appear about half way through each biome, or about every 3 days if you stay still. They are very hard to kill and get progressivly harder. They can also destory certain blocks or turn blocks in to other types of blocks. However the dragons will only destroy stuff in hard mode. The drop some pretty great treasure, so they are worth fighting. But you can be quiet and hide from them if you want them to go away. They are VERY loud and you will hear them coming from a long distance. The Undead dragon will only appear in the last Biome "Hell on Earth".I will be posting some videos soon."

This is really exciting news. Initially; it was thought that only one dragon would exist in any given world, but it has been made clear that one dragon will inhabit each biome.

Needless to say; I'll be looking forward to this update.

Youtube is down.

It seems like youtube is undergoing maintenance.

The website should be back to normal soon enough.

Xbox 360 New dashboard update--December 6, 2011

My impressions on the new dashboard:

Overall better layout.

Ads have become more prevalent. Do not want.

Kinect compatible. This is welcome.

Some items have yet to be added to the dashboard. (i.e. Youtube)

Meh, could be better I suppose.

Xbox Live is down--December 6, 2011

It seems Microsoft has botched their much awaited update.

Currently, there are numerous complaints of people who are unable to update their console.

They can't even access Xbox Live itself.

Microsoft; get your act together. People expect a certain level of quality for something they pay for.

This post will be updated.

Update: Microsoft is working to get the problem fixed.

What are your thoughts on this issue? Leave a comment below.

Your input is of value, and you do not need an account to post a comment.

Voices must be heard; so mistakes like these are taken more seriously.

As of now; Xbox Live seems to be working. Will update soon...

Fusion Genesis: Special Missions FAQ/Guide

In this post; I will discuss special missions, and how to unlock them.

There are three types of special missions.

Note that all special missions can be accessed by pushing the start button. (Once they have been unlocked)

All of the special missions are multiplayer compatible.

Warzone:

The first special mission that you are most likely to unlock is Warzone. This mode can be unlocked by joining either the Dominion, or Revenant Order.

Warzone consists of strategic battle for supply points, and cruiser points. If a supply point is captured; it will allow your comrades to re-join the battle at a much quicker rate. (Assuming they were destroyed in battle)

Once a cruiser point is captured; it will call in a massive cruiser to that location. The cruiser itself is heavily armed, and armored. It will not travel very far from it's original point. On a side note; your comrades will use the battleship for re-deployment. If the cruiser is destroyed; that point will be up for grabs by both teams. (Dominion vs Revenant Order)

The ultimate goal is to destroy the enemies battleship. The battleship is located within the enemies main base, and is not to be taken lightly at all; as it wields tremendous offensive, and defensive powers. To make matters worse, enemies usually deploy at that specific location. Make sure you have plenty of reinforcements (supply points), and cruiser support before tackling this great objective. (Note: A cruiser can be called within the enemy base; so long as you have captured one other cruiser point in the map.)

You receive Warzone points for participating. These points can be redeemed for powerful weapons. (More points will be given if you win.)

Legion Raid:

Legion Raid can be unlocked by completed the main storyline quests that are provided by Judah at Alpha station.

In Legion Raid; players are tasked with protecting a base from waves of relentless Legion attacks. There are some items of interest that I will cover:

Reinforcement point: These points will be used to call in reinforcements, and upgrade turrets. They appear as stations with a pulsating white circle around them. Press the a button to access them.

Turrets: These are your main line of defense. The can be upgraded twice using the reinforcement points. If a turret is destroyed; repair them as soon as possible.

Supply Points: Supply points are the currency of this special mission You will use them for deploying reinforcements, and upgrading your turrets. Supply points are acquired by repairing turrets, or when a supply ship successfully leave the location. Supply ships are deployed by the main station you are protecting. It is your job to secure their safe passage. If they are destroyed; you will not receive their supply point. After a set time; the station will deploy other supply ships. (Regardless of what happened to the previous ships)

Reinforcements: These can be deployed by using supply points.

Summon Fighter: Deploys a fighter to the area.

Summon Cargo ship: Deploys a cargo ship to the area. Much stronger than a fighter

Summon Cruiser: Deploys a cruiser to the area. The most powerful unit that can be deployed. The unit is slow, but has enough firepower to make up for it. Only one cruiser can be deployed at a time.

Launch Station Security: Once used; the main station will deploy several lightly armored units that will defend the station. After a while; they will return into the station. This should be used if enemies are getting too close to the station. (Mostly useful against Legion Dreadnoughts)

You receive Legion Raid points for participating. These points can be redeemed for powerful weapons. (More points will be given if you win.)

Ark Raid: This is the hardest special mission to unlock. You must complete the main storyline to access this.

The Ark Raid special mission is considered to be the toughest special mission.(I'd say toughest mission in the whole game)

In Ark Raid; the player will travel through different sectors. In these sectors; you will face enemies of tremendous power. You must prepare yourself with your greatest weapons, and a ship that will be suitable for different types of obstacles.

Usually; you will have to rid an area of all the enemies; before you proceed to the next area.

This special mission is a great challenge, and it offers a superb amount of experience points, but keep in mind that there are some boss type enemies that will likely destroy your ship in mere seconds. Develop a proper strategy before tackling this special mission.

You receive Ark Raid points for participating. These points can be redeemed for powerful weapons. (More points will be given if you win.)

Goodbye Megaman

When it was announced that Keji Inafune was leaving Capcom; I, and other fans were quite sure that Capcom would continue to expand on the Megaman franchise.

It seemed that way.

After his departure; Capcom began the systematic abandonment of several Megaman projects. Most notably, Megaman Legends 3, and Megaman Universe.

It is my opinion that Capcom will eventually phase out the blue bomber completely.

Why?

It's not in Capcoms interests to continue making Megaman games. All of their attention is being poured into much more lucrative projects.

Microsofts next console "The loop"

I will start off this blog post by typing something in continous caps lock.

MICROSOFT NEEDS TO LAUNCH IT'S NEXT ITERATION OF THE XBOX.

Why? Well, there are more than a few reasons, but I'll cover the obvious.

Hardware: The hardware itself has become constricted to developers. This leads to developers toning down titles that rely heavily on superb graphics to create fascinating worlds with actual substance to them.

The PS3: Sony's console has finally managed most of the issues that prevented it from hitting a collective stride. In doing so; it will catch up to the Xbox 360, and eventually surpass it. It would be in Microsofts best interest; to launch their next machine in a sizeable timeframe before Sony's own plans for the PS4 begin to manifest.

Reveal it at CES 2012.

It's either this, or you can go back to square one.

Fusion Genesis: Sentient FAQ/Guide

This is a guide for Sentients within the game "Fusion Genesis" for the Xbox 360. The game is a downloadable title on Xbox live arcade.

This guide will cover the "Sentient" aspect of the game.

Sentients are small AI driven comrades that accompany your ship, and provide invaluable support in more than a few ways.

First; a look at the main types of Sentients available.

--Tank Sentient

The Tank Sentient features defensive buffs that can help the players main ship become a collective fortress. If the Sentient identifies any threat; it will go on the offensive with it's concentrated beam-like weapon.

Tank Sentient Skill list: Skills can be upgraded by allocating skill points.

Shield Short: This skill will allow your Tank Sentient to nullify enemy shields for a specified amount of time.

Taunt: The Sentient will become the main focus of all enemy threats.

Tractor Beam: Sentient will shoot a beam that will stop an enemy in it's tracks.

Armor Increase: Sentient will send out an ion beam that will absorb a percentage of damage for a specific amount a time. This beam can also be used on nearby friendly units.

Shield Regeneration: Increases shield regeneration rate by a percentage.

--Healer Sentient

The Healer Sentient repairs the players ship. It can be used in many different strategies. When threatened; this Sentient will use homing missiles.

Healer Sentient Skill list: Skills can be upgraded by allocating skill points.

Repair: Once activated; the Healer Sentient will repair the hull, and reboot shields.

Recharge: Recharges bot your own shield, and that of any units within the vicinity.

Knockback: The Sentient will keep enemies from getting too close.

Energise: Increases the energy capacity of all nearby friendly units.

Hull Regeneration: Increases hull regeneration rate by a percentage.

--DPS Sentient

The DPS Sentient is an offensive Sentient. When alerted, it will fight back with a rapid fire double-laser.

DPS Sentient Skill list: Skills can be upgraded by allocating skill points.

Primary Weapon: Increases the power of the Sentients main weapon.

Power Weapon: Increases the power of the Sentients secondary weapon.

Disable: Negates an enemies ability to use special abilities for a specific amount of time.

Damage Increase: Increases the damage of nearby friendly units by a percentage, and time.

Energy Rengeration: Increases the regeneration rate of the players ship by a percentage.

This covers the skills that are exclusive to each Sentient. However, there are three more skills that can be used by all three types of Sentients.

They are as follows:

Mining: The Sentient will mine whenever it is given the chance. If this skill is upgraded; it will allow the Sentient to mine at a faster rate.

Looting: The Sentient will seek out items that are within it's range. Once upgraded; the Sentient will seek out items that are at greater distance from it. (In example; if the player destroys an enemy ship, and it drops any item; if the Sentient is within range it will quickly move towards it, and recover it.)

Trading: This skill will allow your Sentient to sell the contents of your cargo. It will travel to the nearest station, and sell the items. If upgraded; the Sentient will complete this task at a much quicker rate.

All Sentients can be given three specific commands. Aggressive, defensive, and passive.

Aggressive: Sentient will actively seek out enemies.

Defensive: Sentient will engage the enemy if the player, or itself are attacked.

Passive: Sentient will not engage enemies at all.

----Feeding crystals to your Sentient----

It seems as though the game is a bit vague on this information; so I will cover the basics on how to increase a Sentients stats via crystal feeding.

Crystals can be found in just about every mineable item in the game. There are four types of basic crystals; blue, red, green, and yellow. After you have collected a decent number of each basic crystal type; you can begin to combine them, and create black crystals. Black crystals are used to upgrade your Sentients stats, and attributes.

Remember to access these important menu items by pushing the back button. Once you are on the menu; push the left thumbstick, and highlight the Sentient Section on the bottom left portion of the menu. This will lead you into another menu. Once there; you will see a section titled "CRYSTALS" highlight it, and press the "a" button. You will now be able to toggle the auto-feed option. It is my suggestion to turn it off.

Next, highlight the Sentients portion of this same menu. You will see a list of your currently owned Sentients. Push the "a" button, and select one of them. This will lead you to yet another menu. From this menu, you will be able to set the Set the Sentients mood, it's slot location, and allocate skill/stat/attribute points.

Before all of this; you must create black crystals. These are used to feed the Sentient itself; thus giving points for distribution. To create a black crystal; highlight the bottom left portion of this menu, and push "a" then pull either the left, or right trigger. Use the d-pad until "Create black crystal" is highlighted, and push the a button.

A black crystal has now been created. However, the process is not yet complete. You must now feed this black crystal to your Sentient. Highlight, and press a on the "Crystal" section of this menu. You can now select individual crystals, and feed your Sentient manually. Doing so will increase it's overall level. Next; scroll down to the black crystal that was created, and push a. You can push left, and right on the d-pad to select the desired amount of black crystals that you wish to feed to your Sentient.

Push a one more time, and you will recieve a prompt. Choose yes to feed your Sentient the black crystals. You will now have points to allocate in the "Stats" portion of this menu. Highlight, and distribute these points as you see fit.

CastleMiner Z (Xbox Live Indie Games)

CastleMiner Z is the latest in a series of block building games that has hit the Xbox Live Indie games section.

I was skeptical at first, but this game is indeed something different. Ideas are borrowed from Minecraft itself, but what sets this game apart is the survival element. You MUST find better tools, build a shelter, and craft better weapons in a bid to survive. If you do not; the price of being neglectful will be steep. You will be marauded by endless waves of zombies, and other baddies.

This is what I admire about this game the most. The way it forces you to survive. To me; building a giant fortress is not the number one priority in this game. Survival.

Currently there a three game modes: All of them can be played online with three other people. (Another fantastic feature to this Indie Game)

-Endurance

My mode of preference. The main goal is to travel across the vast landscape, and rack up distance. It may seems simple, but it can become quite the opposite. I enjoy scoping the landscape in a bid to find a suitable location to build, spend the night, and be safe from the incoming mass of zombies. It also forces the player to seek out valueable ores are of great use in making new weapons, and tools.

--Survival

The object of survival is simply that. Build a suitable shelter, make powerful weapons, and fight nack against the zombie hordes. Once you have built a massive fortress; it can get kind of boring. Which is why I prefer endurance.

--Freebuild

In freebuild; the play can build anything they wish; without worrying about the zombie hordes. This mode is great if you'd prefer to build locations, and the like.

It doesn't end there. No, not at all!

Updates are planned for this game, and they aren't just bug fixes.

These are some items that are currently planned for the 1.01 update:

-Storage chests.

-All items, and weapons will remain in your inventory after exiting the game.

It may seem trivial, but this is the first of several updates. Not to mention that they make the game THAT much better.

All in all, I'm glad that CastleMiner Z has brought something different to the table. If you own an Xbox 360; this is an absolute buy. It's only 240 Microsoft points(three dollars), and is located in the indie games section of Xbox Live.

What are you waiting for?

Banjo, and Kazooie Nuts, and Bolts 4vs4 Sumo Tournament winner announcement!

Ah, what a fantastic title for this post.

ANYWAY.

It was obvious who had won this tournament. The objective was simple: stay within the sumo ring as long as possible.

The rules were as follows:

--No laser weapon. Anything else was fair game.
--If a player left one of the five matches; they were disqualified. Thankfully no one had left.

The winner is MVPSOLIDSNAKE, and his "Dual Wedge" Vehicle.

Congratulations! The code has been sent, and you will be able to redeem the 1600 microsoft points as soon as you log into your Xbox Live account.

Enjoy!

Monster Hunter 3G (3DS) /Monster Hunter 4 (3DS)

Your eyes do not deceive you. New titles in the Monster Hunter franchise have been announced, but eager PSP/Vita owners will have to wait; as these games are EXCLUSIVE to the 3DS.

This is great news, but quite a few people have been asking some questions.

1) How long of a time frame will Vita owners have to wait before this is released on their platform?

A: Currently, no party is aware of a prospective Monster Hunter release on the Vita; much less the original psp itself. It was a great move by Nintendo, and it if they manage to keep it as an exclusive; it will undoubtedly hamper the Vita in Japan.

2) The 3DS has one analog stick. Will we continue to force ourselves to use the dreaded "claw technique"?

A: Yes, and no. It depends solely on the user. A new peripheral has been unveiled that will add another analog to the 3DS. Buy it = No claw technique. Don't buy it = Claw technique. Below is a picture of said item.

3) Is monster Hunter 3G a completely new game, or an expansion to an existing game?

A: I would happen to think that 3G is a sort of expansion to Monster Hunter TRI on the wii. As for Monster Hunter 4; I would imagine it to be a new game.

Note: Both of these games are currently slated for release in Japan. It is unknown if they ever will see a North American release.

From Dust (Xbox 360)

Finally, something different.

Recently, the entire gaming industry has been swamped with a myriad of shooters, and it's great to see a change of pace. Leave it to Ubisoft to make something new, and exciting.

The game itself can be somewhat hard to describe to others that have not had any first hand experience with it. Essentially, you are playing as "The Breath" an entity that has the ability to manipulate the elements, and in the process; help the villagers unlock the mystery of the ancients.

Initially, you have the power to absorb different materials, and place them at suitable locations that will help your villagers. In example; you can form a bridge out of earth, and the villagers themselves will be able to move across it.

As the game progresses; you will be faced with much more intimidating natural disasters that will force you to think, and be quick with your actions. This forces the player to develop, and deploy strategies that are quite worthwhile, and rewarding to watch.

Thankfully, the game itself has sold rather well, and a sequel should be in the works. I strongly urge everyone to download the demo! You'll be more than happy with the results.

Monster Hunter 3rd: Felyne Temperament Guide!

Those love-able felynes have returned in Monster Hunter 3rd!

In this post; I will explain the different temperaments, and the quirks that make them different from each other.

Courageous: This Felyne will attack large, or boss monsters with complete disregard of it's own health meter. This is good; if you want a comrade that will launch an unrelenting assault upon the boss, but it also means that it is more likely to sustain a critical knock-out, and thus spend a longer time underground.

Cunning: When the boss enters rage mode; this felyne will do everything in it's power to attract the monster toward itself. It will prove useful if you have low health at the beginning of the boss monsters rage mode, and thus saving you. This felyne also has a more strategic attack pattern.

Timid: These felynes will always avoid a fight when given the chance. They usually disappear underground, and leave an item for the player in the form of a shiny. These are usually health recovery items.

Loyal: Once the players health is low; these felynes will attack the monster with gas bombs. Useful if you know how to use this to your advantage.

Chancy: These felynes are quite the opportunist, and will attack without hesitation once the monster itself is in either a dying state, shocked, or flinched.

Persistent: These felynes will increase their regeneration rate when either the monster has entered rage mode, or if they are in a current state of low health.

Pacifist: Will not attack anything. These felynes are good as support comrades, and are suggested for use with support skills such as health flute, armor flute, and antidote flute.

I've imported Monster Hunter 3rd for PSP.

It had to happen sooner, or later.

Don't get me wrong; I'm still very angry at Capcom for not bringing this game over stateside, but I couldn't hold it off any longer.

I won't go into details, but I will say this.

This is a fantastic game. It boggles the mind; not only the game itself, but the fact that Capcom has kept this gem away from adoring Monster Hunter fans in North America.

Personally, I'd urge any great fan of the MH series to consider importing the game. It's worth it.

Super Mario 3DS My initial thoughts.

Great graphics.

Great animations.

Great presentation.

Great everything.

(Still don't know if the gameplay is great; as the game itself has not been released.) ; )

One thing that did strike me; was the speed at which Mario himself would walk, or "run."

It seems like Mario's overalls have been filled with lead, or some other heavy material. Seriously, he's slow.

However, I would imagine that this change to Mario's speed is to compensate for much smaller worlds; as opposed to Mario Galaxy.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Ah, Deus Ex. Certainly one of the most overlooked series of all time. They are not without their loyal fans, and you can can't me as one. With that said; one can't help but let themselves worry about this new iteration of the series. Sure, it looks great, but that's as much as we are currently allowed to know.
From what we've seen; it does follow the open ended theme that made the original games so great. That doesn't mean that game is set, and ready to become an instant classic. There are many other factors that will contribute to how the game is received. Even if the game is open-ended...that alone won't make it a great experience.
The jury is still out on this one. It should turn out into something superb. That, or a fools attempt of cashing in on a great license.

Future epic, or cash-in?

No Pikmin for 3DS? Why not? Have Pikmin for Wii U instead!

Pikmin for Wii U!
By now, everyone may have heard of the news. A new Pikmin sequel has been announced, and it's for the Wii U. Many Pikmin fans were sure that a new Pikmin related game would be released for the 3DS; even I thought so.

It seems Nintendo will be focusing more on bringing great first party titles to the Wii U. That's great. Great, but I still want some Pikmin for the 3DS! I'm not the only individual out there who was thinking about the possibilities.

Perhaps, something will be unveiled, but I don't see it happening as of now.

3DS VS PSP Vita

Who will win?

Well, the obvious choice would be the 3DS. I mean; who knows what secret projects are in the works for their handheld?

As far as the new PSP goes; things aren't looking that great on the software front. Only a handful of titles have been announced that are noteworthy on my opinion. It's highly likely that this will change, and we will see some great new titles for the new sony handheld.

That, or we can have a massive Amount of ps3 ports. That would be a bad thing.

The First Summer

Thanks to Erasmo Cortez

Leaving my kids at home all day during the summer was something I never really thought about doing before now. Each year leading up to last summer we’ve always sent all three of them to summer camp camp and they absolutely loved it since they got to get away for a few weeks and learn valuable things about getting along with others and being in the woods and whatnot. Anyway, I lost my job last March and ever since we just haven’t had enough money for some of the things we used to do and camp was one of them. I talked to my sons about how to take care of the house during the day and my husband and I got HOMESECURITY101.com/ alarms so we wouldn’t have to worry about someone breaking in or them leaving the house but I’m still pretty nervous during the days. I love my kids and it’s my responsibility to take care of them but now that I’ve got this part time job I really can’t risk losing it.

Limbo to be released on PSN, and Steam.

Very little information has been released, and it is not known if this version will arrive with added content. Limbo is a game that has been synonymous with the Xbox 360 for some time, and it is a shocker. Perhaps now this will lead the game to new audiences.

Minecraft officially announced for Xbox 360.

For those who haven't seen the teaser trailer:

Fatal frame for kinect. (Another game that should be on kinect, but isn't.)

Say cheese?

Look! Another game that should be on the kinect, but isn't for reasons not known! Seriously, there are a ton of games that are just begging for a kinect adaptation, but it seems like everyone is more focused on how to make Halo, or Gears of war compatible with the kinect.

KInect SDK (Software Development Kit)

It seems as though the third party industry has no interest in kinect, and Microsoft is turning to the indie community to make new, and original content for the kinect. I like indie games. You can usually find some interesting ideas from the indie game sector.

Having indie developers get there hands on development tools for the kinect seems like a great idea? Right?
We can either see a flood of great new or ideas, or just another source for kinect shovel ware. We'll see what the indie devs can do.

I'll make sure to remain cautious in this matter.

PS3 price drop in August 2011.

No official statement has been made by Sony.

Rumored to be a 100$ price drop.

Seems entirely plausible to me.

Halo 4 (Xbox 360)

Finish the fight...again.

I honestly wasn't expecting a new Halo title. Truthfully, I was secretly happy that Microsoft would have no other option, but to stop milking this series. Perhaps then they would focus their energy on new original projects. It did seem like it was over. The story had been wrapped up, and Bungie had moved on.

Then E3 2011 happened.

Don't get me wrong. I've been a fan of the Halo series, but it just seems less, and less exciting. To make matters worse; the game is being developed by 343 Industries. They have no previous experience in creating a Halo title, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt since some former Bungie workers are to be seen within the company.

It just seemed so underwhelming. Perhaps, the game will offer something new. That, or the game will be focused on the multiplayer experience.

Child of eden finally receives some spotlight.

FINALLY.

It took Microsoft long enough to realize the mistake they have made by not touting this game as something that would be a great experience on the kinect. It was bad enough that they didn't manage to secure it as an exclusive for their console. Microsoft? Seriously? You expect the kinect to appeal to hardcore gamers; without any proof of what it is truly capable of. Instead the kinect is in danger of becoming a safe haven for shovel ware.

So, what spotlight am I talking about? Well, Child of eden was featured on "The kinect show" with it's host Bridget. It almost feels kind of late, but I suppose it's better than nothing. The game is SPECTACULAR; I urge anyone that owns a kinect to run out, and buy it NOW. Instead of picking up garbage like Duke Nukem; support the creative side of the industry, and pick this up.

Sadly, it's my opinion that many a gamer will ignore this great title altogether. Which is the case for most games that try to create something new, and refreshing. Alas, perhaps this game will break that mold, and actually sell decently. Maybe then the kinect will be taken more seriously.

Lionhead to be axed by Microsoft. (Almost there.)

It hasn't happened yet, but you'd have to be a fool not to see it. You heard it here first: Lionhead studios are well on their way of receiving the axe by Microsoft. What would drive me to make such a "wild" assumption?

Most recently, the Carter brothers have left the studio. Normally, this would be seen as them simply leaving to pursue their own agendas. Rightfully so. However, to me this was seen as a massive blow to the studio itself.

Coupled with the fact that their next "great" release is Fable the journey, and you can pretty much do the math yourself. Oh, did I mention that horrid excuse for a game that's titled Fable 3? You can't even take a step without encountering a horrible game destroying glitch. (I literally took a step, and fell through the "floor" into a never ending abyss. Sorry! Reloading the save won't work either!)

So, what's a poor Lionhead to do?

Black & White 3?

NAH! Let's focus on bringing the Fable franchise, and Kinect together!

E3 2011 Sony impressions.

Ugh...

Well, there certainly were quite a few amount of exclusive first party titles at the conference, but here is the problem: They were all sequels. Like the Xbox 360 showcase; there wasn't anything new, and exciting. Don;t get me wrong. The games will without a doubt be great; however it is becoming somewhat of a bore. I want to see not only new, and exciting content, but new and exciting ideas.

Whatever happened to ground breaking?

All in all it was a fair showing on their part, but nothing that would impress me.

The new portable was present. That was nice. No new stuff was announced for it. Besides the Street fighter vs. Tekken game.

It'll need more than that to become a suitable adversary to the 3DS.

E3 2011 Nintendo impressions.

I was impressed by Nintendo's showing at E3. It was somewhat lacking in substance as far as games go, but a few key details were revealed.

What won me over is their message. Essentially, they want to bring together both the core, and casual gamers. It's a smart move, and success will be within reach if they manage to pull it off. Certainly, it won't be easy at all.

Some of their biggest franchises were present, but honestly I was more interested in how they will integrate the new controls into such titles, and most importanly; how it can appeal to both types of gamers.

The stage has been set, and Nintendo is at the forefront. The question is: Will they make the most of this new opportunity?

The Wii U: A new revolution?

E3 2011 Xbox 360 impression.

There's no denying it.

I have but one word to describe their showing at E3: terrible.

The only thing I do happen to remember is the reveal trailer of Halo 4, and let's be honest with ourselves...even that wasn't so exciting.

Why?

It's quite simple. The whole conference was lacking something new, and original. Something that would peak the interest of those that are watching. Ah, but alas...there was nothing of interest, and quite the few Xbox fans agree with me.

Did I mention Kinect? It almost seemed like Microsoft was trying to sell it to the audience; all over again. Kinect has already proven that it's capable of selling, but is it capable of creating an experience that many a gamer would enjoy? As of now? The answer is no. There are mixed feelings about the Kinect, and it has created a divide within the Xbox gaming community. The Kinect itself; still has something to prove.

As far as third party support goes; I was only excited about the new Tomb Raider. Yes, Tomb Raider. I know the series was subject to some horrible games, but the latest installment does look promising.

However, the biggest announcement (in my opinion) would have to be the arrival of Minecraft on the Xbox 360. I'll certainly be looking forward to that, and any new developments. (Note to microsoft: Do not force Kinect upon it! Make it compatible with controllers also!)

There was Gears of war 3, and Modern Warfare 3. Not really excited about those two.

Three was the key number at this E3. ;)

Monster Hunter 3rd finally announced?

I made the assumption that north america will not see the release of Monster Hunter 3rd, and I was right. Not exactly a "told you so" moment, but it did seem obvious. (Sadly)

Yes, it finally has a release date, but it's not exactly what you think it to be. Monster Hunter 3rd will see a stateside release, but it will do so on the ps3. A so-called "re-mastered" version in HD.

I am not too happy with this decision. As we all know; it seems that the MH series is one that was meant to be enjoyed on a handheld console. However, it seems that if you want to enjoy the latest MH epic; you'll have to acquire a ps3.

Personally, I have no problem with this, but it is a massive let down. The game was obviously built for the psp, and yet it won't be seeing a release on north american units. I would of been more surprised if a brand new MH title was announced for the ps3, but it seems like Capcom is more interested an a strategy that would perhaps improve sales on their game.

No Monster Hunter for you.

Forgotten Gems: Blue Dragon (Xbox 360)

This would have to be the most underrated game of the current gen of consoles. I mean seriously. Quite possibly, the most underrated game in ever. Usually, an underrated title gains some merit, but not this game. This game is without merit on so many levels.

I suppose if it doesn't have the Final Fantasy name slapped onto it; it won't garner any attention. What's worse is that I suspect that the sequel may not happen. Another RPG that is FAR superior to the likes of Fable 3, and yet it wasn't touted by microsoft.

Truly pathetic in my opinion.

PSP NGP Price=350$?

There are rumors floating about on the internet of the ngp's price tag. Many people now believe that it may be around 350 dollars. My thoughts? It's a fairly decent price tag. If you take into consideration; all of the tech that will be crammed into this device...it IS a decent price.

As of now; this is still a rumor, but I personally think that it may be around that price point. Nothing else to report at this moment. Except that the ngp is seriously going to rock.

Forgotten Gems: Sudeki (Original Xbox game)

I'm going to start this blog post by saying this: Sudeki is a better game than fable 3. Yes, it's true. This game is FAR better than anything fable 3 can offer you. However, chances are...you've never heard of it. In fact; this may very well be the first time you've heard about Sudeki.

For those of you who don't know: Sudeki is an rpg game that was developed, and released for the original xbox. Yes, the ORIGINAL xbox. So you'd better accept the fact that an xbox game is better than a "next-gen rpg" that was developed for the xbox 360. So, how is it that this game has managed to be a better experience than fable 3?

Well, the first reason is quit obvious for anyone who has played through it. The game is actually FUN. It offers delightful graphics to look at, has an interesting plot line, and in general is a rewarding gameplay experience. Something that fable 3 is not. Sadly, developer Climax, and their game never received the attention they deserved.

Why was this game forgotten is such a manner? Fable is what happened. The original fable was over hyped to a point in which it didn't matter if the game was good, or not. The hype fable enjoyed had guaranteed it's success. Don't get me wrong...the original fable was an OK game, but I don't think it was "the greatest rpg of all time." Other factors would have to include microsoft, and the fact that the game was not advertised enough.

To make matters worse? A planned sequel was canceled, and to this day...microsoft has yet to release the game on their xbox live service as an "xbox originals" title in the downloadable games section. Instead, somebody had made the bright choice of releasing a terrible game called "zapper."

Unbelievable.

Fable 4, and Lionhead.

Let's be honest with ourselves. Fable 3 was a complete piece of garbage. I won't bore you with the details, but many individuals were expecting great things from this game. It begs the question: what exactly is going on at lionhead? Obviously, we know that the situation is getting progressively worse, but what is the cause?

Ownership by microsoft? Development cycle is too short? Peter molyneux? Speaking of peter; why must he juice up his games in the fashion that only he can accomplish? I'd imagine these fable games would be much more playable if I wasn't thinking about all of the features that he promised, but are nowhere to be found in game. It's so bad; that peter has been dubbed peter the liar. Don't believe me? Type his name into google, and the word "liar" should appear briefly.

Ah, what a shame. Shame on microsoft for publicising this game, and not encouraging the development of REAL games. It's only a matter of time before lionhead is liquidated. Not unless they manage to make a complete turn-around, and stun us all.

Random thoughts: WHAT EVER BECAME OF MILO, AND KATE?! Fable 4 is going to be worse than fable 3. That concludes my current thoughts on fable 4.

The Wii 2, and how Nintendo may plan to unveil the successor to Wii at E3 2011.

The 3DS launch is imminent, and already the internet is ablaze with rumors of nintendo showing up at e3 2011 with the wii 2 in tow. It seems entirely plausible at this moment. The original wii has enjoyed a staggering amount of success, but is now being challenged by it's rivals; who are now showcasing motion based tech of their own.

It certainly would be a great strategic maneuver. While nintendo consoles have been know to lag behind in the graphical department; something that is innovative will undoubtedly give nintendo an upper hand once more. Another factor would have to be the growing presence of kinect. Microsofts own answer to the wii; has managed to make a dent on the wiis sales, and this may be a deciding factor in whether nintendo will choose to launch their successor earlier than the competition.

It'll be interesting to see what new innovation nintendo can bring to the industry, and as of right now; it seems HIGHLY likely that nintendo will show something at e3 2011 which will be in relation to their next console.

Xbox live Indie games.-- Joy Joy

Ah, what a fantastic game this is. It will bring you a great amount of fun for the small price of a dollar. Joy Joy is a twin stick shoot em' up, and one of the finest at that. In my opinion; it is only rivaled by other twin stick games that are produced by radiangames. Chances are that you'll become bored with all the fps shooters, and whatnot. This is exactly where a game like this will come into play. Bring a friend, and have an absolute blast.

Three games that NEED to be remade for Kinect.

--Snatcher
Seriously, this game is great, and it would fit perfectly with kinect. Why hasn't anyone mentioned this? WAKE UP PEOPLE!

--Black and White
The fact that this isn't on kinect is unbelievable.

--Myst
Think of how fun it would be to explore this world.

These, are great titles that would do so much with kinect, and yet they have all gone unnoticed. No remakes, no XBLA ports, no nothing. If the kinect continues to lack in great motion based experiences; it will go the way of 32X.

Micosofts biggest screw up: Not putting Child of eden in the spotlight.

Chances are; you have yet to hear anything about a little known upcoming game titled: Child of eden. This is a game that revolves around motion based gameplay, but the difference is in the gameplay itself. This is not a casual gaming experience. The game itself is an on rail shooter; in which the player overcomes diffrent menaces using the kinects motion capability.

Sadly, this game was brushed aside in favor of the more casual gaming experiences. While this has managed to thrust the xbox sales far beyong anyone would have expected; at what price has this been achieved? Xbox has lost the chance to truly show off what the kinect was truly meant for.

However, it seems that a cash grab has gotten the better of microsoft. (No surprise there.) Perhaps, they will learn from this mistake, but as of now...I see no improvement. One only need look at the catalogue of upcoming kinect titles, and make your own opinion.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite: G-level training Rajang guide!

You've managed to clear all G-level training up until this point. One monster stands in between you, and unlocking G-rank Black Fatalis. That monster happens to be Rajang. For the most part; Rajang is usually faced with other hunters at your side, and going one-on-one is usually avoided.

However, in G-level training; you are forced to battle Rajang in a solo battle against one of the most feared monsters in the game. Rajang himself is quite the powerhouse, and to make matters worse; he has a great amount of agility.

So? What's a lonely hunter to do about this? First, let's go over the pros, and cons of the battle.

Pros
--Rajang has reduced health.
--Lots of items to be discovered on the field, and use to your advantage.
--When the situation calls for it; you can always run.
--The overall area is lacking of lesser monsters.

Cons
--Items are scattered about, and it may lead to a confused hunter.
--You only get ONE chance at this. Any mistake will cost you the battle.
--The battle occurs in the old volcano. Watch your step and keep those cool drinks close by.
--When Rajang enters rage mode; the whole battle can be lost if one makes even the slightest mistake.

It seems like the odds are stacked up against you, and they are indeed. Do not worry yourself! I will provide a map to help you in this quest! What kind of map you ask? One that will show you the locations of every single item in the quest itself!

Here you go! Let's try this!

Indeed, I have managed to document the location of the items that appear in this training mission. With this; the overall quest will go more smoothly than you can imagine. However, this does not mean that you should relax. Rajang is no push over, and he certainly isn't going to cut you some slack.

Recommended weapons: Bow, or longsword.

NOTE: Enemies that appear in the quest can be carved for useful items. They are as follow:

--Area 1: Apceros=Raw meat
--Area 3: Melynx=Gourmet Fish
--Area 7: Bullfango=Supply flash bomb

TIPS: Always stay on Ranjangs left side, and panic dive only when necessary.

PSP NGP Media information.

The storage device themselves will either be 2GB, or 4GB. This custom media for the psp ngp will leave space for patches, and gamesaves. It does bring up a few questions.

Will the user be able to save the progress of his games on a third party memory device, or will that remain exclusive the "game card" itself? If the ngp does not support the ability to save your gamesaves on a third party device; it may be in attempt to thwart those who have created "hacked gamesaves."

It's simple. The psp ngp will support trophies. Sony does not want the general public acquiring large amounts of trophies via hacked gamesaves that are downloaded. It's understandable as to why sony is doing this, but it may turn out to be an inconvenience.

The novelty of Kinect is starting to wear off.

Yes, it's true. This happens to be the case with me, and possibly others who have bought the kinect on launch day. Why is this happening? The answer is simple. Kinect is lacking the proper titles that it deserves. Enough with the gimmicks. Give us an experience that actually takes advantage of what the kinect is truly capable of.

Microsoft has kept quiet about what future titles we can expect for the kinect. No information as to what will appear on e3 has been revealed, and they themselves are making sure that nothing is leaked to the general public. So, what exactly can we expect from them when e3 arrives? More dancing themed titles?

If microsoft does the right thing; we can expect some great, and innovative new titles that will give the player a whole new motion based gaming experienced. If not; we will be subjected to more dancing/singing titles that have no innovation to offer. It's a quick cash grab, but it comes at a price. Nintendo, and sony can easily make new motion based tech; that will certainly overthrow the kinect in a short amount of time. The kinect itself MUST have motion based experiences that can not be found on any other console; regardless of how advanced their motion based technology becomes. Otherwise, I see the kinect as a temporary win for microsoft.

PSP NGP media unveiled.

Initially, it was thought that the PSP NGP would not use any sort of physical media for it's games. However, Sony has opened up about it's new media device for the NGP. It's called the NVG.

Picture below; New media:

Personally, I wanted Sony to make a serious effort at a handheld with NO physical media. I have my reasons, and I'll get into that later. As for this new media? So far it's looking good. It's certainly better than UMD. It seems sony has learned from their mistakes. Very little, or no information has been released about this new media. I'd like to know how much storage space it can hold for the games themselves. Sony will likely release new information soon; so this is certainly something to look out for.

Nintendo 3DS, and eye strain.

Now that the 3DS has launched in Japan; more cases of eyestrain have been reported. The reports numbers in the thousands, and is likely to increase. Individuals complain of eye strain within thirty minutes, or less of having the 3D function on.

If Nintendo does nothing to fix this; this will likely mark the companies biggest fumble...ever. Such an issue will likely render the 3DS unplayable with it's 3D functionality on. Not to mention; the 3DS has been touted as a glasses free 3D device. What's the point of having 3D if you can't use it?

Nintendo needs to do something, and they need to do it quick. Once the 3DS launches in north America; I have the feeling that people here will be more vocal with their complaints, and it may lead to more complicated matters arising. I suppose Nintendo shouldn't worry. They did have "scientists" approve of the 3DS itself. I'm sure none of this will result in lawsuits.

Minecraft on Xbox 360?

A possibility, but has not been confirmed by Markus Persson. In a recent interview; he did have this to say:

"I want to work on other games, but I think it would make sense to turn Minecraft into a franchise. I think it's important that there should be a point to any future Minecraft games. So if we make an Xbox version, there should be a point to it being on Xbox."

What does this mean? Obviously, he wants to create new games, but there is still an interest in making a console version. The only issue is that people may begin to ask for updates on the console version. Anyone can tell you that updating will always occur quicker in the PC version. This is where his main audience is.

Still, I haven't ruled out the possibility of minecraft being a game that I'll be enjoying on a console. Perhaps, sometime soon?

Skyrim gameplay trailer!

Feast your eyes on this! (If you haven't already.)

Can't wait for this. Looks fantastic.

Sony: PSP and PSP NGP can co-exist.

That's what sony would like to think about it. I however, do not see this happening. As soon as the NGP launches; you will see that support for the psp will slowly move toward the NGP itself. It's already started. How does sony expect the psp to be around if there isn't any new development for it?

Yes, I realize that there were some games that were made for the ps2; long after the ps3 arrived, but that's an entirely different story. The ps2 enjoyed a massive installed user base. Making a game for the ps2 was a great idea. Even if sony made it clear that they weren't supporting the ps2 any further.

I honestly don't see the psp, and ngp co existing. Not unless sony makes it happen by establishing developers that are exclusive to the psp itself...which I highly doubt at this moment. Perhaps sony has something else in mind? I'm thinking: some sort of psp, and psp ngp compatibility?

You heard it here first.

2D games are not going anywhere.

I don't see why everyone is worried about 2D games getting completely obliterated. They've been around for awhile, and that won't change. Even as consoles, and portables get more, and more tech upgrades; 2D games will remain. There are several reasons for this.

First, there are certain formulas that only work in a 2D dimension; as opposed to a 3D adaptation. The Castlevania games are a perfect example of this. Konami has tried to successfully port the series into the 3D real, but haven't done so in the manner that it would make anyone actually want to play it.

Another great example of this would have to be the Sonic titles by Sega. There have been some 3D titles that have been decent, but let's be honest with ourselves. Had Sega stuck with the 2D formula; things would have turned out MUCH better in my opinion. Instead, we are forced to deal with motion-captured hedgehogs. That's no good.

Very few franchises have actually made a successful transition into 3D. Most of the titles that have made it; belong to Nintendo. Mario would have to be one of the few franchises that actually managed to pull through. Even then, fans have made it clear of what they want, and Nintendo eventually released New Super Mario Bros; a new iteration of Mario, and company.

Capcom insists that Japanese games suck.

Essentially, that's what they're saying. Before the events that led to
Keji Inafune's departure; the company was quite vocal about how terrible
the Japanese gaming industry had become. “Personally when I looked around all the different games at the TGS floor, I said Man, Japan is over. We’re done. Our game industry is finished.”

These words were said by Inafune himself. There may be some truth behind those words, but if one looks at Capcom themselves...they have done very little to innovate the Japanese industry themselves. I would understand if they actually had a track record in innovation, but most of there titles follow the same formula in which the series had originally started with in the first place.

A good example would be Resident evil, Megaman, Street Fighter, Devil May cry, and a slew of other Capcom titles. Don't get me wrong; these are great titles, but they have done very little to innovate the games themselves. It makes you wonder if Capcom is in the right place to allow such absurd comments in the first place. I would even say that it has been severely damaging to the companies reputation itself.

PSP NGP-- The price means everything.

I don't know if you've heard, but rumor has it that the PSP NGP will be
around four-hundred dollars. This doesn't bother me; as it seems to be
fairly priced in my opinion. However, if you compare it to Nintendo's
price tage on their handheld, and things may seem a little grim for the
next sony portable.

I personally; do not think the price tag on the ngp can go any lower.
There's quite a bit of tech that's crammed into that portable, and sony
isn't ready to lose more money. Looking at the ngp; I would even say that
they would lose quite a bit WITH the 400$ pricing.

It goes without a doubt to say that the price on both of these handhelds
will be a major deciding factor as to who is the winner in the upcoming
battle.

Xbox 720

It may be time for microsoft to reveal their new console. I mean
seriously. The psp ngp is more powerful than the xbox 360, and it's
portable. Microsoft needs to reveal now, or it risks losing the market
share it has gained.

Sure, they have kinect, but in my opinion; it was developed at a late
stage in the 360's cycle. To me; it would of been a smart move to make
kinect a part of the 720 itself, and not release it as an add on for the
360.

We will have to wait, and see as to how this plays out. Microsoft may
reveal something very soon, or they take the risk of stagnating.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

This will be their greatest rpg to date. I can type that without
having any doubts about it. Bethseda has a proven track record, and
this will be their finest addition to their library of created games yet.

More than a few screenshots have been unveiled, and it's more than enough
to get any respective elder scrolls fan in a rabid state of froth.
With good reason. Several new features have also been revealed that
will make the game itself even more enjoyable.

The new features are as follows:

NEW ENGINE
Indeed. Skyrim will feature an undeniably beautiful engine. Like the previous
games in the series; exploring the locales will be a joyful experience.

THE STORY
Little is known about the story withing Skyrim. It's in Bethseda's best
interest to keep everything in wraps. Nodody likes a spoiler. What is
known is that the player will assume the role of dragonborn. (Dragon Hunter)

WEAPONS AND COMBAT
Combat itself is undoubtedly being revamped, and player's will now be
able to MAKE their own weapons. Unknown as to what a player needs to
smith a weapon, but it may be an addictive point to this game. Magic
also makes it's return. Get ready to shoot great balls of fire!

NPC AI
The NPC (non playable character) AI (artificial intelligence) will also
receive a massive update in Skyrim from what I have heard. Interacting with
them will seem much more fluid, and dynamic that previous entries in the
series. Moreover, they will react to your actions in a much more believable
manner. Say if you steal something; the shop clerk won't forget about in
any given time frame. I'd imagine that he'd want you to pay a price (jail-time)
before re-entering his store. That, or you could just waltz right in, and become the guest of a rather hostile shop keep. Another example would be you dropping
your weapon (everyone must have done this within a city more than a few times)
Character's may steal, fight over, or attempt to give the weapon back to it's
rightful owner. (you)

THINGS TO DO WHILE NOT QUESTING
These include: farming, mining, woodcutting, blacksmithing, and cooking. We
haven't seen how this will be directly incorporated but no doubt it will be
interesting.

CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION AND YOU
You can edit your face to your own liking, but now you'll be able do do that
on the rest of your character. The player will have ten races to choose from.

These are but a few blips to appear on the radar. Please whet your appetite
with this fine screenshot that has been released.
