Xbox Live is down--December 6, 2011

It seems Microsoft has botched their much awaited update.

Currently, there are numerous complaints of people who are unable to update their console.

They can't even access Xbox Live itself.

Microsoft; get your act together. People expect a certain level of quality for something they pay for.

This post will be updated.

Update: Microsoft is working to get the problem fixed.

  1. I agree. How absurd. I didn't even get an email regarding the update. It kicked me out of a match about 30 minutes ago. After several tries connecting it accepted the update. BUT I still cannot connect to xbox live. Pretty poor on their part for sure.

  3. Can't you guys just be loyal? I mean I know they're making an update, but what would you do if you were part of the team and millions of people complaining? Its just an update guys, the world isn't going to end. You can wait. By the way, while you wait. Why don't you do something useful right now? Lol.

  4. Agreed, you act like you can write the coding perfectly, and send it to the millons of users at the sametime with out it crashing, their trying there best, and in a little while, it will be up and running and perfect, you guys are a little uptight dontcha think?

  6. I don't think leniency applies to this sort of thing.

@Josh It's not a question about loyalty. It's about getting the job done right. (Preferably, the first time.) Honestly, this is a multi-billion company; hiccups like these should not occur. Let's not forget that RROD crap they pulled on us.

  7. If I ran updates without FULLY testing my $hi4 I'd lose my farking job. Shameful! EPIC FAIL. You would think after DECADES of updates being rammed down our throats they'd have their collective act together, but no...clearly that's not the case.

..as to the donky talking about us not writing code perfectly... NO. NO ONE DOES. That's the point of QA/QC and testing the crap out of it before you roll it out to the entire world! This is nothing new for MS and that combined with the fact that it's a service we're paying for to a multi-billion dollar corp = YES, we're a bit uptight!
I have an idea. How about we put MS in charge of sending updates to all of the hospital ventilators in the world all at once! What? No? You don't trust them that much?

  8. I am a little disappointed with the update. It allowed me to download it and all, and the dashboard certainly has changed. However, the system is still down. And I'm hoping for a quick resolution. It would have been nice to receive an email about the issues they ran into, so I didn't spend a half an hour messing with my system settings and firewall. An approximation for the fix would be nice as well.

  9. With the amount of money they are charging for an online service where many of their competitors offer for free there is absolutely no reason this should be happening.

Let alone the fact that I received no e-mail, no warning, no notice. Yet when my xbox live is going to end in a month I receive 3 e-mails, and in game message, and a warning screen when I sign on.

So- don't warn me when a service I pay for gets interrupted, but when they want my money they are practically calling me for my credit card info

  11. I agree this is complete bs. 1st you pay $60 a year, then you get junk from Microsoft. I got a heatset from there brand, junk, had to take it apart and fix it myself. 250gb hard drive, junk, had a 100 gigs and it turned to, trash. Had to erase everything and re format it. For a computer company they aren't all that great.
2nd. Every new game I bought in the past 3 months was trash. All full of glitches. $360 , $60 per game, and none of them were perfect the way they should be for that price. Dead island became unplayable. Battlefield 3 had server issues, mw3 sent me back to live for no reason and erased everything, Batman kept freezing to.
    Who else is fed up?

Do you think xbox live would give you a year of XBL for 40 bucks instead of 60? FUCK NO THEY WOULDNT
