PSP NGP media unveiled.

Initially, it was thought that the PSP NGP would not use any sort of physical media for it's games. However, Sony has opened up about it's new media device for the NGP. It's called the NVG.

Picture below; New media:

Personally, I wanted Sony to make a serious effort at a handheld with NO physical media. I have my reasons, and I'll get into that later. As for this new media? So far it's looking good. It's certainly better than UMD. It seems sony has learned from their mistakes. Very little, or no information has been released about this new media. I'd like to know how much storage space it can hold for the games themselves. Sony will likely release new information soon; so this is certainly something to look out for.

Nintendo 3DS, and eye strain.

Now that the 3DS has launched in Japan; more cases of eyestrain have been reported. The reports numbers in the thousands, and is likely to increase. Individuals complain of eye strain within thirty minutes, or less of having the 3D function on.

If Nintendo does nothing to fix this; this will likely mark the companies biggest fumble...ever. Such an issue will likely render the 3DS unplayable with it's 3D functionality on. Not to mention; the 3DS has been touted as a glasses free 3D device. What's the point of having 3D if you can't use it?

Nintendo needs to do something, and they need to do it quick. Once the 3DS launches in north America; I have the feeling that people here will be more vocal with their complaints, and it may lead to more complicated matters arising. I suppose Nintendo shouldn't worry. They did have "scientists" approve of the 3DS itself. I'm sure none of this will result in lawsuits.

Minecraft on Xbox 360?

A possibility, but has not been confirmed by Markus Persson. In a recent interview; he did have this to say:

"I want to work on other games, but I think it would make sense to turn Minecraft into a franchise. I think it's important that there should be a point to any future Minecraft games. So if we make an Xbox version, there should be a point to it being on Xbox."

What does this mean? Obviously, he wants to create new games, but there is still an interest in making a console version. The only issue is that people may begin to ask for updates on the console version. Anyone can tell you that updating will always occur quicker in the PC version. This is where his main audience is.

Still, I haven't ruled out the possibility of minecraft being a game that I'll be enjoying on a console. Perhaps, sometime soon?

Skyrim gameplay trailer!

Feast your eyes on this! (If you haven't already.)

Can't wait for this. Looks fantastic.

Sony: PSP and PSP NGP can co-exist.

That's what sony would like to think about it. I however, do not see this happening. As soon as the NGP launches; you will see that support for the psp will slowly move toward the NGP itself. It's already started. How does sony expect the psp to be around if there isn't any new development for it?

Yes, I realize that there were some games that were made for the ps2; long after the ps3 arrived, but that's an entirely different story. The ps2 enjoyed a massive installed user base. Making a game for the ps2 was a great idea. Even if sony made it clear that they weren't supporting the ps2 any further.

I honestly don't see the psp, and ngp co existing. Not unless sony makes it happen by establishing developers that are exclusive to the psp itself...which I highly doubt at this moment. Perhaps sony has something else in mind? I'm thinking: some sort of psp, and psp ngp compatibility?

You heard it here first.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite: A guide for Felyne temperaments!

Haven't found an adequate guide for felyne temperaments, and what exactly it means for your felyne comrade. So, I'll make one here!

Brave: Will heal slowly, and attack monsters of any type.

Cautious: Fast heal rate, and will only attack small monsters.

Cowardly: Very fast heal rate, and will attack small monsters on most occasions.

Scrapper: Normal heal rate. Goes after small monsters.

Weapon Lover: Will only use weapons, and not bombs. Normal heal rate. Goes after all types of monsters.

2D games are not going anywhere.

I don't see why everyone is worried about 2D games getting completely obliterated. They've been around for awhile, and that won't change. Even as consoles, and portables get more, and more tech upgrades; 2D games will remain. There are several reasons for this.

First, there are certain formulas that only work in a 2D dimension; as opposed to a 3D adaptation. The Castlevania games are a perfect example of this. Konami has tried to successfully port the series into the 3D real, but haven't done so in the manner that it would make anyone actually want to play it.

Another great example of this would have to be the Sonic titles by Sega. There have been some 3D titles that have been decent, but let's be honest with ourselves. Had Sega stuck with the 2D formula; things would have turned out MUCH better in my opinion. Instead, we are forced to deal with motion-captured hedgehogs. That's no good.

Very few franchises have actually made a successful transition into 3D. Most of the titles that have made it; belong to Nintendo. Mario would have to be one of the few franchises that actually managed to pull through. Even then, fans have made it clear of what they want, and Nintendo eventually released New Super Mario Bros; a new iteration of Mario, and company.

Capcom insists that Japanese games suck.

Essentially, that's what they're saying. Before the events that led to
Keji Inafune's departure; the company was quite vocal about how terrible
the Japanese gaming industry had become. “Personally when I looked around all the different games at the TGS floor, I said Man, Japan is over. We’re done. Our game industry is finished.”

These words were said by Inafune himself. There may be some truth behind those words, but if one looks at Capcom themselves...they have done very little to innovate the Japanese industry themselves. I would understand if they actually had a track record in innovation, but most of there titles follow the same formula in which the series had originally started with in the first place.

A good example would be Resident evil, Megaman, Street Fighter, Devil May cry, and a slew of other Capcom titles. Don't get me wrong; these are great titles, but they have done very little to innovate the games themselves. It makes you wonder if Capcom is in the right place to allow such absurd comments in the first place. I would even say that it has been severely damaging to the companies reputation itself.

PSP NGP-- The price means everything.

I don't know if you've heard, but rumor has it that the PSP NGP will be
around four-hundred dollars. This doesn't bother me; as it seems to be
fairly priced in my opinion. However, if you compare it to Nintendo's
price tage on their handheld, and things may seem a little grim for the
next sony portable.

I personally; do not think the price tag on the ngp can go any lower.
There's quite a bit of tech that's crammed into that portable, and sony
isn't ready to lose more money. Looking at the ngp; I would even say that
they would lose quite a bit WITH the 400$ pricing.

It goes without a doubt to say that the price on both of these handhelds
will be a major deciding factor as to who is the winner in the upcoming
battle.

Xbox 720

It may be time for microsoft to reveal their new console. I mean
seriously. The psp ngp is more powerful than the xbox 360, and it's
portable. Microsoft needs to reveal now, or it risks losing the market
share it has gained.

Sure, they have kinect, but in my opinion; it was developed at a late
stage in the 360's cycle. To me; it would of been a smart move to make
kinect a part of the 720 itself, and not release it as an add on for the
360.

We will have to wait, and see as to how this plays out. Microsoft may
reveal something very soon, or they take the risk of stagnating.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

This will be their greatest rpg to date. I can type that without
having any doubts about it. Bethseda has a proven track record, and
this will be their finest addition to their library of created games yet.

More than a few screenshots have been unveiled, and it's more than enough
to get any respective elder scrolls fan in a rabid state of froth.
With good reason. Several new features have also been revealed that
will make the game itself even more enjoyable.

The new features are as follows:

NEW ENGINE
Indeed. Skyrim will feature an undeniably beautiful engine. Like the previous
games in the series; exploring the locales will be a joyful experience.

THE STORY
Little is known about the story withing Skyrim. It's in Bethseda's best
interest to keep everything in wraps. Nodody likes a spoiler. What is
known is that the player will assume the role of dragonborn. (Dragon Hunter)

WEAPONS AND COMBAT
Combat itself is undoubtedly being revamped, and player's will now be
able to MAKE their own weapons. Unknown as to what a player needs to
smith a weapon, but it may be an addictive point to this game. Magic
also makes it's return. Get ready to shoot great balls of fire!

NPC AI
The NPC (non playable character) AI (artificial intelligence) will also
receive a massive update in Skyrim from what I have heard. Interacting with
them will seem much more fluid, and dynamic that previous entries in the
series. Moreover, they will react to your actions in a much more believable
manner. Say if you steal something; the shop clerk won't forget about in
any given time frame. I'd imagine that he'd want you to pay a price (jail-time)
before re-entering his store. That, or you could just waltz right in, and become the guest of a rather hostile shop keep. Another example would be you dropping
your weapon (everyone must have done this within a city more than a few times)
Character's may steal, fight over, or attempt to give the weapon back to it's
rightful owner. (you)

THINGS TO DO WHILE NOT QUESTING
These include: farming, mining, woodcutting, blacksmithing, and cooking. We
haven't seen how this will be directly incorporated but no doubt it will be
interesting.

CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION AND YOU
You can edit your face to your own liking, but now you'll be able do do that
on the rest of your character. The player will have ten races to choose from.

These are but a few blips to appear on the radar. Please whet your appetite
with this fine screenshot that has been released.

Apple to buy Sony?

This can not, and will not happen.

Well, it can, but I don't want to see it happen. Sony has always
been a company that has strived for tech advancement. Apple, in my opinion
not so much. Reason? Look at the Ipad, and the recent mishap with the Iphone.

Sure, Sony has made a few fumbles, but at their core they remain the same.
Pursue the advancement of all sorts of technology is what I see from them.

If you go by the numbers; it is entirely possible for Apple to buy Sony.
That doesn't mean everyone wants it to happen. Just the thought of it makes
me cringe.

Nintendo 3DS poised for complete domination.

It's no secret. With the imminent launch of the nintendo 3DS; sony will have
to launch an aggressive strike at nintendo's hand held. In my opinion, the
psp NGP should have been launched BEFORE the 3DS. Sure, the NGP will enjoy
a massive technological superiority over the 3DS, but that won't matter if
the 3DS establishes itself with a massive fanbase to begin with.

For the most part; third parties will flock to the 3DS to enjoy it's advantage
of having a much greater audience for the games they create. By the time the NGP
launches; there will be more than enough games for every genre on the 3DS. Not
to mention that the 3DS will not be a slouch in the graphics department.

So, if you do the math...it seems that the 3DS has everything it needs to
continue dominating the portable market. It will be interesting to see how
sony plays out their plans with the NGP. Establishing the NGP will be hard
enough; attempting to overtake the 3DS completely will be another different
story altogether.

Monster hunter 3 on 3DS.

A rumor that is based off of some comments that were made by an individual
from Capcom. The exact words were: "The 3DS is releasing, too, so I think the right time to switch [Monster Hunter] to new hardware is coming as well."

This comment was made by Ryozo Tsujimoto; the producer of monster hunter. So,
you can imagine the firestorm it has created. Personally, I would be surprised
if this franchise make the move to another platform. I'm not referring to a
temporary deal in which one game appears on another platform besides a ps3, or
psp. I'm talking about a specific platform receiving several monster hunter titles
over the course of some time.

Now, this statement may mean that the franchise is ready to move onto the 3DS. It
does make sense right? Nintendo coupled with the staggering success that is monster
hunter could make monster hunter a success in the states. There is a lot to be gained from that mutual partnership.

The truth however; may be different from what everyone is expecting. It may
just move to the ps3 itself.

Dear Microsoft: Let your developers do their thing.

I'm serious. You guys NEED to let your first party developers create whatever
they wish. It would also be a good strategy to not breathe down their necks
every two days on how "violent/M-rated" some content within a game is.

The developers you currently own, and or plan on "buying" have their ideas.
These ideas should be nurtured by it's parent company: you. Instead of setting
up limitations; you should encourage your developers to take their time in
making first tier software that will captivate their audience.

Perhaps, you will listen, and allow some truly great games to be created for
your console.

Is the PS4 on it's way?

An interesting question. Sony themselves had said that the ps3 would
remain as their hardware for sometime, but with the arrival of the
psp ngp...I would have to say otherwise.

The ngp itself can, and will outclass the ps3 for several reasons. For one;
it's portable, and has the power of a ps3. Let's not even get started on the
media capabilities of the psp ngp vs those of the ps3. It is obvious that the
ngp will out do the ps3 in that area also.

The ps3 itself; has managed to bring down the playstation brand to a crawl.
While sony will, and continues to offer spectacular first party software;
the ps3 itself has been in somewhat of a downward spiral for sometime.

I could understand why sony would be in a rush to get a head start. It's the
smartest thing to do in this situation. Perhaps, leaked info, or an official
conformation is imminent.

The last guardian-- PS3

Team ICO is without a doubt; going to be releasing the greatest game of all.
How could I back up such a statement? Well, you need only look at their track
record. Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus have remained the very pinnacle of a
gaming experience. Both of these games were released on the ps2, and have yet
to be surpassed by any current gen gaming experience.

Now, for one brief moment; I'd like for you to imagine what team ICO is capable
of with the PS3's hardware. This WILL be the magnum opus of the ps3's library,
and it will not be surpassed untill team ICO releases their next work.

You can probably tell that I'm really excited about this.

Xbox live Indie games.-- Final Rift

This game was a pleasant little surprise. It had launched about a week or
so earlier, and the general community has given it a below average rating,
but that has quickly changed.

I will try, and explain this game without giving too much away. Final Rift
is a space exploration game. It has you collecting alien artifacts, buying/selling
good between ports, and upgrading your own vessel. The main objective is to find
your destiny at the Final Rift.

The whole process is extremely addictive, and fun. Navigating through the
planets has been well thought out,and roaming about in space is quite an
experience. Very well done for something that is in the Indie games category.

Companies should seriously put effort into making these types of games. The
genre itself has been somewhat forgotten.

Sony, and the PS4.

The psp ngp has been announced, and in my opinion it's only a matter of
time before Sony announces the PS4. Sony needs this. Why you ask? The fact
of the matter is this: Sony has been in third place for far too long, and
it has had a negative effect on the playstation brand name. If this keeps
up; the sony brand will not be taken seriously in the gaming market.

It should be obvious to sony that things need to change. If microsoft
manages to launch it's "xbox 720" before the ps4; then it may once again
mean doom for the ps4.

They need to focus more on hardcore games, and less about the cell processor.
Take the ps2 for example. It had optimal graphics, and had the biggest library
of games. Graphics was not the most important thing, and yet developers managed
to pull of some amazing feats on the ps2. If sony wants to be taken seriously
again; they have to stop the propaganda, and show their audience the games.

The 3ds will make you sick.

There have been several reports of individuals getting sick in Japan from
Nintendo 3ds usage. This may become a problem for the hand held. Other
people haven't gotten sick, but feel eye strain, and other mild symptoms.

Thankfully, Nintendo has added the option of completely shutting down the
3D effects altogether. In the process; this may confuse developers. Should
they make games that revolve entirely around a 3D interactive experience?
Or, should a simple 3D effect suffice?

It certainly will be interesting to see how this turns out. Nintendo should
make sure that the finished product has little, or no negative effects on
people. It's a biig deal, and it shouldn't be rushed in my opinion.

Is Rare dead?

I've been asking myself that quite a few times recently. There hasn't been too
much activity with Rare lately. No worthwhile announcements. No confirmations
on awaited sequels. Nothing. What we did get was a kinect game: kinect sports.

Even there homepage has been slow to update on information. In light of this
new questions come to mind. Is this the future of Rare? Making motion based
games for kinect? It could very well be that way for some time. The reason?
It is my opinion that original hardcore Rare titles would not sell well on
the xbox 360.

If this is true; it would be a pity. Rare is a great developer. As such, Microsoft
should do everything in their power to ensure that they make great games. Instead
of forcing them to make titles that follow the latest fad. Who knows what Rare would
create if they weren't being forced into something?

Guilty Gear- Where is it?

Seriously, where is Guilty Gear? It seems the entire series has gone on hiatus. Yes, I'm aware that a game was released for the xbox 360, but it's not a 2d fighting game. Overture as it is called; received mild reviews.

So, why haven't we seen a 2d iteration of Guilty gear on the current gen? There could be a few reasons. First: Sega Sammy may be investing most of it's resources into Blazblue. (A horrible choice in my opinion; since I don't really see Blazblue as a great fighting game)Second: The market for Guilty Gear may have simmered down. Especially after theps2. (This is where their core audience resided, but eventually the ps2 had to give way to the ps3)

Some would say that the "dust loop" caused the entire series to go into hiding. Such a statement is laughable at best. Sega Sammy really needs to reconsider it's decision of belittling this franchise.

Monster hunter portable 3rd is not coming to North America.

This isn't an official statement, but it is my opinion that Monster hunter
3rd will not be making an appearance stateside. I have reason to believe that plans for
it's release have been canned. How, and why did I arrive at this conclusion? It's simple.

Capcom themselves have remained silent about the issue altogether. No release dates
have been muttered by any gaming website, and the the title itself has been out in Japan for
an eon already. (Still no talks about a North American release date; only rumors)

I am disappointed in Capcom. The fans have really supported this company, but the
company itself seems to care very little about it's fanbase. Instead of releasing Dark Void,
or Bionic Commando..they should of taken the time to release Monster Hunter portable 3rd.
Instead; we the fans were forced to wait for something that wasn't going to happen. Capcom,
at the very least should have had the decency of saying this: "There won't be a release of
mhp3rd in North America."

Is it really that difficult to make such a statement?

In any case, many fans turned to importing, or piracy. Furthermore, english patches were
developed by several individuals, and are still being worked on to this day. A risk in itself, but
it does show how hardcore North American fans of mhp3rd are. Capcom, take note.

Project Draco- Upcoming Xbox 360 title

What is Project Draco? For those of you that don't know; Project Draco is a game that's
being developed for the xbox 360, and it will take advantage of the kinect.

So, what's so different about this kinect title? Well, it has dragons. You can fly, and stuff.
For the most part; very little is known about the game itself, and the trailer leaves more
questions than answers.

However, this game is being created by Yukio Futatsugi. (Creator of Panzer Dragoon series.)
That's enough to get any hardcore fan excited about a motion based game.

With Yukio Futatsugi at the helm; some would expect this to be a rail shooter of sorts.
They may be right, but perhaps it may shape up to be something entirely different.
Certainly a title to look out for.

Monster Hunter 3rd announced for PSP NGP.

It's no surprise that monster hunter 3rd is headed to the new portable.
However, some questions do arise. Will it be a carbon copy of tri for the wii, or
will there be more additions to the title; such as quests, and new monsters?

While I was watching the video of monster hunter during the big reveal of the ngp; I did
notice the translator calling it a "download version." This brings up the question: Will monster
hunter 3 be downloadable from day one?

Capcom should make the right decision, and MAKE it a downloadable game from day one.
US fans have been treated with a cold shoulder by Capcom. (For the most part.)
We're still waiting for 3rd on psp, and frontier is nowhere to be seen yet.

The internet is off. (In Egypt.)

Not really. Well, not here as of yet. (Although, it may occur sometime in the future if we dare challenge our rampant government.) However, this is beyond the point. Sometime in late January; the government of Egypt had decided to shut down all access to the internet.

What could possibly drive a government to make such a dire choice?

Nuclear fallout?

Plague?

The end of the world?

None of the above. The government simply didn't want the people to communicate in an effective manner as they wage war against a corrupt government that offers no more than two dollar an hour jobs. (If you can find a job to begin with.)

Ah, the glorious government of our nations. Don't you just love them?
